* Speaking to members of the National Association of Black Journalists, Vice President Kamala Harris said she intends to make sure American families pay not more than 7% of their family income on child care — an issue that both members of the Republican ticket have struggled with lately.
* At the same event, the democratic candidate faced the scandal Surrounding Donald Trump and JD Vance peddling a racist conspiracy theory about Springfield, Ohio.
* Hadley Duvall, a 22-year-old woman who was raped and impregnated by her father when she was 12, share their terrible experiences in a new ad from the Harris campaign. (Note, background music comes from pop star Billie Eilish, who endorsed the vice president this week.)

* In Georgia, the last Atlanta Journal-Constitution poll it showed Donald Trump leading Harris, 47% to 44%. The same poll showed the former president with a five-point lead in June. (Click the link for information on survey methodologies and margin of error).
* Democrats regained his narrow majority in the Pennsylvania state House this week with two special election victories in the Philadelphia area.
* Two failed Republican presidential candidates announced new media jobs this week. Vivek Ramaswamy will be still a program on the Fox Nation streaming service, while Nikki Haley will host a weekly podcast that will be air on SiriusXM through Inauguration Day.
* And members of the right-wing House Freedom Caucus have chose a new leader: Rep. Republican Andy Harris of Maryland. Initially, it appeared that Harris faced a challenge from Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, but Biggs withdrew from consideration before the vote.
